Sigrid Van Coillie
After seeing Cats in Amsterdam Sigrid Van Coillie forever fell in love with musical. It enabled her to combine that what she loved to do most: dancing, singing and acting. She started her musical career in the ensemble of a variety of shows where she learned important skills from professionals who were on the cutting edge of everything.
Later she joined the cast of the musical Revue Revue and the musical Chess but her first real part she played in the musical La Cage aux Folles (The Bird Cage) as Anne. After that she played the part of Judy in A Chorus Line a musical that is on the bucket list of every triple threat performer. A Chorus Line was followed by West Side Story in 1996, produced by Stage Entertainment. West Side Story was choreographed and directed back then by Jerry Mitchel and Sergio Trujillo. Sigrid was chosen by them to be their dance captain and she got a lot of inside information about the show and the choreography because these two incredible Broadway performers worked with Jerome Robbins himself. In West Side Story Sigrid also understudied the part of Maria, a rare situation because she was part of the Jets!

In Jekyll and Hyde, produced by The Ballet of Flanders, she covered the part of Lucy and in 1998-1999 she played the part of Cosette in Les Misérables. In this epic musical she met her husband Jeroen van Delft who played the part of Javert. Meanwhile they are happily married for over 18 years and they have three beautiful children. Jeroen is a musical connoisseur with special interest in forgotten musicals and under his direction Sigrid played in a few of those.
Already during her stage career Sigrid started teaching. Her core business is musical theatre but she also teaches Classical Ballet, Dance History, Work Field Orientation and Audition Training in the Bachelor program of the Lucia Marthas Institute for Performing Arts (LMIPA) in Amsterdam. This university offers a BA degree in the performing arts and is one of the leading universities for musical theatre in The Netherlands. She specialized in the Fosse style by following several master programs with Valarie Pettiford, Lloyd Culbreath and Dana Moore with The Verdon Fosse Estate in NY. These sublime Broadway Fosse veterans provided her with a lot of details on Bob Fosses work because they learned from the best: the master himself! (For an inside look at the visit Sigrid and her students made to New York and the subsequent teaching visit of Valarie Pettiford to Amsterdam, please have a look at this Monthly Archive page of The Verdon Fosse Legacy)

In 2016 she had the privilege to work with two other fantastic Broadway performers, Mary Ann Lamb and Charlotte d’Amboise, on a Jerome Robbins project in New York City. Later that year she worked with Mary Ann Lamb and Elizabeth Parkinson at her university in Amsterdam on a Jerome Robbins project again. During this collaboration Mary Ann Lamb, Elizabeth Parkinson and Sigrid became friends and this became the starting point for them to set up more joint projects and masterclasses under the name Ballet Broadway & Beyond.
In 2017 Sigrid worked alongside Chryssie Whitehead on a Michael Bennet project and in 2018 with Ashley Wallen on several choreographies from The Greatest Showman both for Lucia Marthas Institute for Performing Arts.

Sigrid couldn’t be more proud then seeing so many of her students shine on stage in a variety of musicals and shows in The Netherlands and and around the world.
